Areas of Practice

Civil litigation is conducted within a complex framework of rules setting down law and procedure. As one of our clients you can be assured that we have an impressive track record in dealing with a broad range of civil litigation cases from the small claims court to the High Court.

We understand that budget is important and will always advise you whether legal costs are likely to be proportionate at the outset of your case. Whether you are bringing a claim, or defending a claim, you can rely on our expertise in negotiation to seek settlement where possible.

We can provide immediate advice upon a full range of litigation matters.

In most instances we also offer fixed-fee preliminary consultations. A consultation will help you to understand the legal and practical issues relating to your case and allow you to make an informed decision about what action to take.

Where your claim is worth under £10,000

Cases worth under £10,000 (with the exception of personal injury claims) will be dealt with in the Small Claims Court. This means that you will not be able to recover the costs you incur with a solicitor, even if you win. In this situation, we offer a package, whereby we will meet with you for an hour’s consultation, advise you on the merits and pitfalls of your case and provide you with a guide to issuing and conducting proceedings in the Small Claims Court. This service is offered for a fixed fee. If you choose to conduct proceedings in person, then we are happy to be on hand to assist with any queries you may have or to provide representation at any Court Hearings.

Civil Litigation or Dispute Resolution encompasses the various disputes which may arise between individuals or companies. Our litigation solicitors are all general Civil Litigators and can therefore assist with most types of civil disputes.

We encourage a pragmatic approach to all disputes. Irrespective of the merits of a case, we shall explore with you the various methods of resolving the matter which include negotiation and the different avenues of Alternative Dispute Resolution. There are instances when Court proceedings are required or may already have commenced and we have experience of County Court and High Court litigation. We instruct Counsel and independent experts to assist and advise in matters where more specialist knowledge is required.

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, a dispute breaks down to the point where there is no other option but to commence proceedings against another party or to defend proceedings brought against you
